What we’ll practice
Every practice is simple, and all of it can be done seated. Here’s what the hour looks like.
Breathwork & centering
Simple breath practices, including the physiological sigh, that help your body settle. You can use them anywhere, anytime.
Sensation, emotion, story
Learn to tell apart what you feel in your body, what you call it, and the story your mind adds on top.
Orienting
A gentle way of showing your nervous system that it’s safe right now, by letting your eyes and attention take in your surroundings.
Your body’s yes and no
A short practice in noticing what your body already knows, before your mind puts it into words.
Conscious movement
Slow, yoga-inspired movement, standing or in a chair. We’re not chasing a stretch. We’re noticing where there’s ease and where there’s resistance.
A resourcing practice
Finding a place of ease in your body, and learning to return to it whenever you need to.
Throughout, we practice simply noticing, without needing to fix or change anything.
Who this is for
- You’ve never heard the term “nervous system regulation” — that’s a perfect place to start.
- You’ve done a lot of thinking and talking, and your body still feels tense or stuck.
- You’re curious about body-based practices and want to try one before committing to anything.
- You’d like a calm hour with no pressure to speak, share, or be on camera.
Come as you are. Take what’s useful and leave the rest. You’re always in charge: skip anything that doesn’t feel right, keep your eyes open, or simply listen.
Your host
I’m Angela Ou, a licensed massage therapist and somatic coach in Salt Lake City. I work with people who’ve done a lot of therapy, journaling, and talking — but still feel stuck or disconnected in their bodies. Using touch, breath, and movement, I help the body catch up to what the mind already knows. This workshop is a small taste of that approach.
It’s also a preview of Befriending the Body, an 8-week practice in embodied awareness I’m launching soon. Everyone who registers will hear about it first.
I am not a licensed medical doctor, therapist, or psychiatrist. The practices in this workshop are not intended to replace professional medical or mental health advice, but to complement any care you may be receiving.
